When I moved out on my own after college in 1998, I got a puppy. Last year, when he was almost 13, he started getting very odd symptoms-head tilt, anxiety, pacing, panting, not sleeping... Dr. O'Brien was smart enough to diagnose a rare condition in which he had a tumor that caused his adrenal production to rise. She was able to reduce his symptoms and manage his condition in order to get surgery for him. Unfortunately, he developed pneumonia and passed away the day before his surgery. Max had been alternating between staying at our house and at the vet's office. Dr. O'Brien let me come to the office and stay with him for hours at a time. I was able to see how well she treated all of her patients. I was able to be with Max when he died, and I also saw how hard she tried to save him. Because of Dr. O'Brien, Max didn't suffer and I got an extra month to spend with him. I was able to spoil him, let him ride in my convertible, and hold him when he was anxious. I'm so grateful for that. I have six other dogs, some young, some old, a few I got from her after she rescued them. I completely trust her (and her staff) with all of my "children", and I know they are getting the best care possible.
